Come check out Mr. Hyphen tonight in Oakland. What is it you ask? It’s what happens if you take the Miss America pagaent and take out the idiot contestants and throw in badass, nonprofit heads, of Asian American descent. But leave in the talent show and interview portions cause who doesn’t wanna see Dan Diggity spit some lines?! The event is thrown by Hyphen Magazine and the finalists are:
Amit Singh, Sikhcess
Danny Le, APIA Spoken Word & Poetry Summit
Leng Phe, Tiny Toones Cambodia
Pahole Sookkasikon, Thai-American Scholarship Fund
R.J. Lozada, Center for Asian American Media
Tony Douangviseth, Serve the People
The contest is tonight, tickets are $15:
Saturday, November 14, 7 – 10pm
Oakland Asian Cultural Center
(Pacific Renaissance Plaza, second floor)
388 9th Street, Suite 290
Oakland, CA 94607
If you can’t make it in time for the contest, peep the afterparty and join AzN himself as he celebrates R.J.’s inevitable victory, popping champagne and making it rain diamond encrusted Faberge eggs:

2442 Webster St
Oakland, CA 94612
(510) 238-1100
Good luck also to Mr. Detroit, Amit, who had the courage to scrap for votes by randomly asking KD and AzN at the Alameda Burma Superstar if we’d vote for him tonight. His nonprofit, Sikhcess, is nationwide and 6,000 folks strong!
